This article answers the problem of the practice of legal abortion in Islamic law studies. The author calls it syar'i abortion and the practice of illegal abortion in Islamic law studies. This type of research is library research using an Islamic legal approach. The results of the research show that there is a difference of opinion regarding the legal permissibility of abortion for reasons of necessity and emergency, while there is a difference of opinion regarding the legal permissibility of abortion before the impregnation of the soul. There are those who allow it and those who don't allow it. The practice of abortion that violates the Sharia is called illegal or non-Syar'i abortion, that is, the act of abortion that does not have a Sharia law within the limits of an emergency or necessity.
