Abstract

Nikah sirri is a marriage that is not registered by the state, although its status is considered valid by religion. However, its existence raises many legal and social issues such as the rights of children and wives who are not protected by law. The role of religious instructors at the Ministry of Religious Affairs is important to minimise the risks arising from siri marriages such as the absence of inheritance rights, recognition rights, and so on. Islamic religious instructors in Batuceper Sub-district, Tangerang City, have conducted socialisation on the importance of religious and state marriage in majelis taklim, educational institutions, and pre-marital counselling. The method used is a qualitative method with an analytical descriptive approach. The result of this research is that the role of Islamic religious instructors is proven to be able to reduce the number of nikah siri in Batuceper Sub-district, Tangerang City.
