This article aims to review the history of sharia law in the archipelago. The method used in this research is library research, namely by referring to primary and secondary sources in the form of books, journals, scientific papers, regarding the history of sharia law in the archipelago. The approach used in this research is a structuralism approach, namely an approach that examines the structure of texts, in this case texts that represent texts regarding the history of sharia law in the archipelago. The results of this research are that the history of the entry of Islam into the archipelago revolves around the debate on 4 (four) theories of its spread, including the Gujarat, Makkah, Bengali and Chinese theories where the data collection refers to the sojourn of Islamic traders in Indonesian ports, the source. is foreign news, especially China, the existence of Islamic communities in several areas of the Indonesian archipelago. The sources, besides foreign news, are also Islamic tombs and the founding of Islamic kingdoms. Then, Islamization developed in several ways, including through trade, marriage, Sufism, education, arts and politics and da'wah. This path was embodied by the Islamic kingdoms in the archipelago which were supported by culture. Therefore, the arrival of Islam in the archipelago did not destroy the cultural order but accommodated its reconstructed formulation in Islamic teachings.
